The day after his party lost Congress, Trump went to Truth Social at 6:33pm ET with the real emergency: “It’s so dark outside, so early (Sunset was 5:06 P.M., and it was dark by 5:31 P.M. — Isn’t that ridiculous?).” The culprit is the Senate, which hasn’t passed the Sunshine Protection Act, “or, the I Don’t Want to Change My Clocks Anymore Act.”
Then came the backstory. “I didn’t want to make a big deal out of this prior to the Election because I didn’t want to have certain Senators lose their Race, in a landslide.” He didn’t say which Senators, or how a clocks bill would sink them.
The record: on 3 October he posted Sen. Tom Cotton’s cellphone number and wrote “HAVE THE SENATE VOTE, NOW!” (AP). That was a month before the election, and it is what a big deal looks like. We’re not reprinting the number.
He also says the House sent the bill over “numerous times (308-117).” The House clerk shows one vote at 308-117: H.R. 139, on 14 July 2026. “We have far bigger priorities,” he added, “but I will keep fighting for this!” Noted.
