Trump on the $3 trillion selloff: if we’d gained it, ‘I probably would have been more unhappy’

Trump has found the one market move that really bums him out: going up.

At NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Friday, in between air-show promises, he got to the selloff. “Our country lost $3 trillion all because of an election. I wonder what that means. If we would have gained $3 trillion, I probably would have been more unhappy.”

He meant it as a read on investors, he explained: “they thought somebody else did well” in the election. Then, unprompted, he reminded listeners he was not on the ballot. He added that if he had been, they would have won. That’s his claim, and there’s no evidence for it.

Earlier that day, leaving the White House, he attributed a $3 trillion stock-market loss to the election. Newsweek, citing Yahoo Finance, reports nearly $3 trillion was erased from S&P 500 companies on Nov. 5 as the Nasdaq fell 5.52%. AP has called both chambers of Congress for Democrats. The night before, on Truth Social, he told voters “you only have yourselves to blame!”
