The next White House briefing, if Trump gets his wish, comes with a cage-side crew and a boss he describes as "a violent Fighter and Warrior."

On Saturday at 1:40pm ET he posted that Dana White, the UFC chief, "has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States." The president's spokesperson is called the White House press secretary, as CNBC noted. He asked him to bring UFC fighters as assistants: "I have requested that he bring with him assistants, even though some are not from our Country, of Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris." The Guardian says that last name belongs to fighter Kayla Harrison, and that Trump got it wrong. Then the pitch: "We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left." "Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!"

White, asked about the post at a boxing event in London, said he was "flying to Washington, D.C., right now" and had "a meeting on Monday." "I'm sure I'll have more to talk about after that." CNN, citing a source, had reported he declined; the Guardian, citing CNN, also reported that an aide called the post a joke. White separately posted an Instagram story of himself at the briefing-room lectern with the caption "On to the next chapter."

CBS reports the job has been vacant since Oct. 16, when Katie Zacharia was removed after five days. The offer landed a day after Trump announced that Stephen Miller would replace Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, starting Monday. NBC notes Wiles was the seventh woman to leave the administration this year, and that the women who left have been replaced by men — except the still-empty press secretary post, which he has now dangled at the man who staged UFC Freedom 250 on the South Lawn for his 80th birthday in June.
