Greg Abbott was on Trump’s Election Day endorsement slate for Texas. AP called the governor’s race for Democrat Gina Hinojosa. At 11:35pm ET, Trump explained the loss without mentioning the endorsement: “If Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, hadn’t become a RINO in the last six months of his Political Life, he wouldn’t have lost. He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty!”
Three minutes later he announced he would “become a Political Pundit” on why candidates “won and lost.” At 11:52pm ET the punditry arrived: “FoxNews bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition, and worse.”
The record: Abbott ran as Trump’s endorsed candidate, and AP called the race against him. Trump’s endorsees also lost AP-called races in the Texas Senate race, Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas and both Carolinas. He blamed none of those on himself. Axios notes he gave no evidence for the Fox claim.
