Trump spends 1:12am on Election Day in all caps about Alaska’s other Dan Sullivan

Some people spend the small hours before an election sleeping. The president spent 1:12am ET on Tuesday filing a missing-person report on Truth Social, in all caps, about a retired Alaska schoolteacher.

The target was Dan J. Sullivan, the independent whose name sits on the Senate ballot next to Republican Sen. Dan S. Sullivan. Trump called him “FAKE,” said he “HAS TOTALLY DISAPPEARED, GONE!” and then asked: “MAYBE HE HAS BEEN ‘KIDNAPPED’ BY THE CORRUPT DUMOCRAT LAWYERS???” He capped it off by claiming those lawyers are “SCARED STIFF OF BEING PROSECUTED FOR ELECTION FRAUD!!!” Trump offered no evidence of a kidnapping, and we found no missing-person report.

The record: CBS reported last week that Sullivan had left his hometown of Petersburg, and quoted a friend saying he and his wife are known as “world travelers.” AP reported Monday that nobody in Petersburg had seen him for weeks. The Justice Department has an investigation open into whether he was recruited to split the vote, and FBI agents have visited his donors; as of Oct. 31, CBS reported, nobody had been charged with a crime. Sullivan has denied being a plant. The Peltola campaign and national Democrats have denied any connection, CBS reported. On Sunday, a federal judge threw out the Justice Department’s bid to block certification of the race.
