Donald Trump has checked the prices, and they’re lower than ever, as long as nobody checks them after him.
On Kansas City’s KCMO on Friday morning, in the middle of a riff on fuel, Trump promised the Iran war would end and said “we’re knocking the hell out of them.” Then came the price report, his claim: “our prices are lower than they were under Obama,” and “they’re lower than they were under Biden.”
AAA’s national gas average for regular was $4.22 on Thursday. That’s about $1.19 above the same day a year ago, per WRNJ’s write-up of AAA data, and a year ago he was already president. The Bureau of Labor Statistics says gasoline rose 34.2% in the year to September, and overall inflation went from 3.4% in August to 3.7% in September.
About an hour before the interview, on Truth Social: “INFLATION IS WAY DOWN UNDER “TRUMP.”” The scare quotes around his own name are his.
