Trump’s Iowa gas story now has him reading $1.85 off the pump himself

YouTubeEvery fish story grows. Trump’s Iowa gas station is now a whale.
In Sioux City: “I always mention Iowa. I was in Iowa making a speech... I looked over and passed two gas stations, and I looked at the top of the pumps, and it was $1.95 a gallon... The other one was $1.85.” Then he asked whether “Sleepy Joe” was “looking at pumps.”
Back in January, during that Iowa trip, he said on Fox: “They were just saying, in Iowa the fuel is $1.95... Somebody said $1.85.” So it was secondhand then, and it’s an eyewitness account now. CNN found the state average that day was $2.57, and the station right outside his venue was charging $2.69. Someone in his own crowd shouted back “$2.63.” When he repeated $1.85 in the State of the Union, Local 5 quoted AAA saying the only fuel that cheap was E85, which most cars can’t use.
Later the same night he dated the visit to “seven months ago.” The last Iowa visit we can find was 27 January, almost nine months earlier by our math. Meanwhile AAA has Iowa regular at $4.12 and diesel at $6.18. His fix, from later in the same speech: prices will “come tumbling down” once the Iran war is done “very soon.”
