OH. SORRY.
Trump calls a question ‘Fake News,’ then learns it’s from the Daily Wire
About fifteen seconds. That’s how long it takes the fake news to become real news, if it’s from the right outlet.
Monday, before leaving for Kansas, Donald Trump got a question about France: Emmanuel Macron, the reporter began, was blaming the Iran war and Trump for the rioting there. Trump didn’t let her finish. “That’s fake news. Who are you with?”
“No, sir. Mary Margaret with the Daily Wire.”
And just like that: “Oh, the Daily Wire is good. Sorry. Daily Wire is good.” Same question. Same facts, or lack of them. The only thing that changed was the logo on the mic.
Save this one for next time he talks about media bias. Because the next day, in the Oval Office, a reporter from The Independent who has covered him for a decade got “I don’t know who the hell you are” and “Are you a sick person?” Same president. Same “who are you with?” Different answer, different treatment.
