QUIET! QUIET!
Trump to reporter asking about his golf course: ‘Are You a Sick Person?’
The fraud tip line had been open about an hour before the president found something he really wanted to report: a journalist.
Tuesday in the Oval Office, The Independent’s Andrew Feinberg asked a simple money question. Why would a whistleblower take the administration’s new bounty, about 1% by Trump’s own pitch, when the False Claims Act, on the books since Lincoln, pays up to a quarter of what’s recovered? Trump’s answer, per Feinberg: “Because it’s a lot of money.” Math is optional at this level.
Then he asked Feinberg who he was. Feinberg has covered him for a decade, and by his account Trump winked at him earlier in that same event. A little later: “I don’t know who the hell you are, but you better be careful.”
Then Feinberg tried a question about Trump’s plan to rebuild a public D.C. golf course. “Wait. Wait. Quiet. Quiet. What’s wrong with you? Are you a sick person?” Feinberg: “Not that I know of, sir.” Trump: “I actually think there’s something wrong with you.” Aaron Rupar counted it as Trump’s third blowup of the Q&A.
There’s a pattern. The day before, Trump called the federal judge on the same golf course case a “crazed lunatic” on Truth Social. Ask about the golf course and you get a diagnosis. Feinberg says that after the event the White House rapid-response account called him a “Mongoloid Moron” and Vance called him an “imbecile.” Feinberg, for the record, says his annual physical came back fine.
