Donald Trump wants you to know the cognitive test is hard. Then he told you question one.
In Chillicothe on Wednesday, coming straight out of a riff about an Alaska ballot, Trump announced: “I’m a very high-IQ person.” He said he “passed three cognitive tests,” that he’s “the only president that agreed to take them,” and that Obama “couldn’t have passed.” “Biden we don’t even talk about.” Then, for his own side: Republicans “wouldn’t have passed” either.
His proof that it’s hard: “They have a lion, a bear, a snake, and a camel. They say which one is the snake… That’s question one.” It gets tougher, he promised: by the time you get up to 14, 15 and 16, you gotta be “smart to answer.” Last week’s version had a giraffe in it. By his account, he aced it, “zero mistakes all three times.”
Then he read out a doctor’s question: “take the number 64, multiply it times seven, divide by three, add 1,019, subtract 74, multiply by nine.” His answer: “I know the number to that.” He didn’t say what it was. By our math it’s 9,849, by way of 149 and a third. A few minutes later he mocked his critics’ question: “Why is the president taking so many cognitive tests?” His verdict: “These people are sick.”
