Trump says the Iran war came with ‘a price to pay, which I knew immediately’

Thursday morning, the oil price was an Iranian plot. By Thursday afternoon, it was a price he’d known about all along.
At 11:40am the president posted that Iran is “doing everything they can to drive up the price of Oil prior to the U.S. Midterm Election,” and is even “making up fake hits, mines.” Sneaky ayatollahs, meddling in gas prices right before the vote.
That afternoon on the South Lawn, he was asked how the Iran war is playing in the tight races. “Well, in one way, they love it because I’m doing what should have been done by other presidents. In another way, maybe they don’t. There’s a price to pay, which I knew immediately when I did it. But we can’t let Iran have a nuclear weapon.”
So the price is Iran’s election-season sabotage, and it’s also a price he says he knew about the moment he started the war. Both, in one day, before dinner.
He finished the answer where he always does: “many great patriots really love it,” and “we’ve knocked the hell out of them. And we may do it a little bit further.” For anyone at the pump: there may be more where that came from.
