Trump says he doesn’t know what two ex-FBI officials are charged with, then calls them ‘dirty cops. Like Comey’

Trump has a new order of operations for justice: verdict first, then find out what the charges are.

Getting off Air Force One in Palm Beach on Friday evening, Trump was told that two former FBI officials face felony charges tied to Hunter Biden, and asked whether the FBI was protecting the Bidens before the 2020 election. He guessed so, then admitted: “I don’t know exactly what it is.” He’d “heard they were bad people,” then “crooked people,” and then, about ten seconds after admitting he didn’t know the case, he gave his finding: “dirty cops. Like Comey. Comey’s a dirty cop.” Then: “Thank you, everybody.”

Here’s what he didn’t know. Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides were charged by criminal complaint with one count each of lying to Congress about their roles in the FBI’s Hunter Biden investigations. They surrendered Friday morning. NBC notes that no grand jury has indicted either of them. Their lawyers call the case false, baseless and political.

As for the bonus defendant: James Comey is charged in the “8647” seashells case and hasn’t entered a plea. His arraignment has been pushed to January. The last indictment against him was thrown out in November 2025, after a judge found the prosecutor who brought it had been unlawfully appointed. So far, “dirty cop” is a finding with no trial behind it, just the president.
